Praying for Government – 2

This week, we continue our 3-week focus on praying for our government, both local and national.

Scripture 1

And he walked in the way of his father Asa, and did not turn aside from it, doing what was right in the sight of the Lord. Nevertheless the high places were not taken away, for as yet the people had not directed their hearts to the God of their fathers.  2 Chronicles 20:32-33

Father, we ask that our government would turn aside from their own agendas and turn to what is right in Your sight. We pray that the people of our nation would turn from all the things that have turned their eyes from You and that they would direct their hearts towards You.

Scripture 2

My child, set these two goals for your life: to walk in wisdom, and to discover discernment. Don’t ever forget how they empower you. For they strengthen you inside and out and inspire you to do what’s right, you’ll be energized and refreshed by the healing they bring.  Prov. 3:21-22

Father, we ask that our government would find life for our nation in these two things: that they would seek Your wisdom and discernment knowing that they will empower us and strengthen us as a whole nation to do what is right. May we have the refreshment and healing that they bring.

Scripture 3

Follow those who follow wisdom and stay on the right path. For all My godly lovers will enjoy life to the fullest and will inherit their destinies. Prov. 2:20-21

We ask that our government will follow wisdom and take the right path for our nation. We pray that You would hear the prayers of Your lovers and bless us with destinies filled with joyful life in its fullness.

Scripture 4

Now this, “yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. Hebrews 12:27-28

Father, we thank You for shaking things up, that every manmade decision that has been put into place will be removed, and those things which cannot be removed because they have been established since the beginning of creation will remain. Your kingdom will not be moved, You have given us grace.

Scripture 5

But the treacherous ones who love darkness will not only lose all they could have had, they’ll lose even their own souls! Prov. 2:22 (TPT)

We pray that all those in our government that will not turn from darkness, that they would experience the loss of the things they hold dear instead of You. We pray that the hearts of their understanding would be opened that they would not lose their souls.
