Come, let us worship YHWH Elohim, the Creator of heaven and earth.
“Let them praise His name with dancing; Let them sing praises to Him with timbrel and lyre… Praise Him with timbrel and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.” Psalm 149:3; 150:4
Father, we come before You this evening with offerings of celebration in dance and music. Our hearts are glad before you to bring the fruits of joy and gratitude for all You have done for us.
“Miriam the prophetess, Aaron’s sister, took the timbrel in her hand, and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dancing.” Exodus 15:20
God, forgive us for the times we have not given You the praise You so richly deserve. Forgive us for not taking the time to praise You before the storm, during the storm, and after the storm. Father, forgive us for not thanking You for our provisions, for taking Your generosity for granted. We should have praised You and we have forgotten how good You are. We have become a Nation who forgot Your goodness. God, wake us up on the Mountain of Arts and Entertainment to take our God-given gifts and show forth Your glory! Show forth Your Goodness!
“Is this not David the king of the land? Did they not sing of this one as they danced, saying, ‘Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousand’?” 1 Samuel 21:11 /1 Samuel 29:5
“It happened as they were coming, when David returned from killing the Philistine, that the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy and with musical instruments. The women sang as they played, and said, ‘Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousand.’” 1 Samuel 18:6-7
God, we receive Your instructional teachings from Your word to dance. Teach us to dance upon injustice and bring glory to Your name!
The Unrelenting Dance of the Spirit of God
“It happened when the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and celebrating;” 1 Chronicles 15:29
“And David was dancing before the LORD with all his might, and David was wearing a linen ephod.” 2 Samuel 6:14
Father, give us courage to celebrate. Give Your dancers timbrels and an unrelenting desire to praise You with the biblical tradition to dance. That indeed our heal will tread upon the serpent. The joy of the Lord is our strength and through our dance joy will be unleashed with vengeance towards our enemy with a resounding leap of victory.
The Dance of Restoration
“Again I will build you and you will be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel! Again you will take up your tambourines, And go forth to the dances of the merrymakers.” Jeremiah 31:4
“Then the virgin will rejoice in the dance, And the young men and the old, together, For I will turn their mourning into joy And will comfort them and give them joy for their sorrow.” Jeremiah 31:13
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness; the testimonies of Your deliverance flow from my lips like honey from the comb to my God, who has made all things beautiful again.
“and say, ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.” Matthew 11:17
“They are like children who sit in the market place and call to one another, and they say, ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.’” Luke 7:32
The Dance of Redemption
“Now his older son was in the field, and when he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing.” Luke 15:25
God, we have prayed for our loved ones and now we have learned to dance upon injustice until we see Your redemption. We will dance and praise when our redemption comes, and we will raise the level even all the more to proclaim our redemption has come.
“A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance.” Ecclesiastes 3:4
We have wept and travailed, but now, oh God, teach us to celebrate your Son who has brought us the victory of salvation into the kingdom of Your Son. It is now the time to dance. Father God, teach us to dance.
