Christ is our hope.
“The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah. In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line; He will do what is just and right in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: “The Lord Our Righteous Savior.” Jeremiah 33:14-16
Father, with expectation and hope, we ask that we be reminded of Your great promises to us. Jesus is our hope, Jesus is our Redeemer, and Jesus is our Savior. Help us to prepare our lives for His Advent within us.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn…” Isaiah 61:1-2
Father, with great hope, we know that Christ Jesus was the One who was anointed and sent to preach the good news, heal the brokenhearted, give liberty to the captives, to bring freedom to those bound by imprisonment. Jesus was the proclamation of the acceptable year of the Lord.
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” Romans 5:1-2
We have been justified by faith in Christ Jesus, that we have peace with God. We can rejoice in hope of the glory of God because we have been given access by faith to grace and in that we stand.
“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans 5:3-5
Lord, Your hope will not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, although we go through many things, the results will build in us perseverance, character, and hope.
